Week 10 Pickups

Tuesday, Nov 10, 2009 at 12:00 pm ET

Many fantasy post-seasons will begin in just over a month. By now, you're team is either pretty set or you're scrambling to see the playoffs. Here are some guys to take a look at if you're in dire need of a replacement along with their associated availability on FleaFlicker.com.

Ladell Betts, RB - WAS (Available in 95% of FleaFlicker Leagues)

Here's a great pickup this week and you don't have to have a Ph.D. in fantasy football to make this suggestion. It's highly unlikely that Clinton Portis will take the field this week with the concussion he sustained this weekend, so Ladell Betts becomes an attractive short-term pickup. He did pretty well after Portis came out and took the Falcons for 70 yards and a score. He'll face Denver's 8th best run defense. If you're in a bind, Betts could make for a nice flex start in deeper leagues this week.

Chris Chambers, WR - KC (Available in 65% of FleaFlicker leagues)

So long San Diego. Welcome Kansas City. This is going to be an interesting change to watch. His first game in KC resulted in two scores. It's highly unlikely that he can repeat that type of performance each week. The only thing I feel confident about right now is that Cassel will give Chambers far more targets than Rivers did. If he's still available in your league, he may be worth putting in a waiver claim for.

Josh Freeman, QB - TB (Available in 96% of FleaFlicker Leagues)

The Battle of the Bays was difficult for me to watch, particularly in the 4th quarter. Conventional wisdom would dictate that Josh Freeman should have been rudely welcomed to the NFL with the Packer's D. I don't think anyone could have foreseen the rookie throwing for 205 yards and 3 scores. While I'm not personally ready to plug him into my starting lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if Freeman becomes the next Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco over the 2nd half of the season. Let me reiterate, I'm personally going to take a wait-and-see approach with him, particularly after watching him run for a first down on the opening series and not knowing where the first down marker was. He needs time to mature but the potential is certainly there.

Justin Forsett, RB - SEA (Available in 97% of FleaFlicker Leagues)

The Seattle backfield has been a mess. Edge is gone. Julius Jones rushed for just over 2 yards per carry against the Detroit Lions. In comparison, Forsett is averaging more than 6 yards per carry this season and has proven to be a capable receiver out of the backfield. He's probably not going to be your week to week starter, but there's still some value here, particularly in PPR leagues.

James Jones, WR - GB (Available in 96% of FleaFlicker Leagues)

When Aaron Rodgers threw his 74 TD pass to James Jones, the whole thing looked so effortless that you'd have thought that they've been doing this for years. Jones had a fantastic game with 4 receptions for 103 yards and the game's first score. If you're looking for an extra receiver in deeper leagues, Jones is worth looking at.

Betts became a fantasy star pickup in 2006 this time last season when Portis was out. Washington has won 2 games now, and could improve with the help of a favorable rushing schedule ahead. Week 14 washington plays the raiders, and there wouldn't be much use in playing Portis towards the end of the season, who is complaining of pain from many traumatic injuries. As a feature ball hog back for the remainder of the season, Betts is a great pickup.
