Welcome to 2010

The NFL Draft is done and that's my cue to get ready for the 2010 NFL season. There are always lots of moves in the off-season, but it seems to me that this year had some pretty remarkable ones. Here's a look at some of the noteworthy NFL roster changes that will impact your 2010 fantasy football season.



The New York Jets have made a number of roster moves but LaDainian Tomlinson's two year agreement is definitely notable. It looks like the former #1 fantasy football consensus pick could wrap up his career in New York.



Also coming to the Jets is Santonio Holmes, however he'll be suspended for 4 games under the NFL's substance abuse policy.



Leaving the Jets to head to Kansas City is Thomas Jones who ended 2009 with 1,402 rushing yards and 14 TD's.



The Brandon Marshall saga takes a turn for the better (*maybe*) as he finds his way down to sunny Miami. Perhaps the warm weather and change of scenery will make Brandon a happy guy? Obviously, if he falls to you in your draft, you'll take him regardless of what team he's on.



Ben Roethlisberger has been suspended 6 games under the NFL's personal conduct policy. I guarantee that drops his fantasy football value significantly.



Jason Campbell's the hot hand in Oakland where the Raiders have JaMarcus Russell, Charlie Frye, and Bruce Gradkowski. Not everyone's going to play. Regardless of who gets the starting job, none are worthy of a starting spot on your fantasy team. Campbell has always been an average QB. Moving to the west coast won't change that.



Derek Anderson's out of Cleveland and into the desert in Arizona. The jury's out on this one so stay tuned, but don't go reaching when you see him on the draft board.



Brady Quinn is also out of Cleveland and Jake Delhomme is in. I have the utmost respect for Mike Holmgren and smile every time I drove down Holmgren Way in Green Bay, but Jake Delhomme? Seriously Mike?



Rex Grossman was an emergency filler for many last year, but he'll be warming the bench on his new team in Washington.



The Redskins will have former Philly-superstar Donovan McNabb under center.



The Redskins also picked up Willie Parker for one year which might be all that fast-Willie has left in him.



Leaving Washington is Antwaan Randle El who will be calling Pittsburgh home. He had little fantasy value last year and most likely will continue to have very little value in 2010.



LenDale White is in Seattle and reports indicate that he's looking good.



The Detroit Lions will still be the NFL's main punching bag this year, but they're starting to build a foundation that will serve them well into the future. Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh, and Tony Scheffler are a great start. I liked Scheffler in Denver and I still like him in Motor-City.



Ted Ginn Jr. is moving to San Francisco.



Torry Holt is going to call New England home, however he should have little value even in that pass-happy offense.



Chester Taylor's leaving Minnesota to compete for a starting role in Chicago. Matt Forte was my 2009 Bust of the Year Award winner so the competition will be interesting to watch.



Perennial PPR favorite, Brian Westbrook, is still hanging without a team after Philadelphia let him go. Word is that he has visited with the Rams so we'll be watching to see if that's where he lands.



Like Westbrook, Terrell Owens hasn't found a home yet either, but I assure you that he will. He's simply too much of a threat to fly solo. Unfortunately, his time in Buffalo was a major disappointment. Other than Week 11 against Jacksonville where he had 9 receptions for 197 yards (1 score) and Week 12 where he had 5 receptions for 96 years (1 score), Owens was a below-average fantasy receiver. But...plug him into an offense with a good QB and he can still put up big numbers. I'm watching this one closely.



The Brett Favre watch is on again with news yesterday that he will most likely need ankle surgery in order to play in 2010. Against the wishes of my family and friends, I'm still a Favre fan so I hope I'll get to see him play one more year. He simply makes the game so much fun to watch.
