There's a new feature to the Nerd. Today in the NFL is a collection of the day's happenings around the league. It's a great spot to take a look at the day's events and incredibly useful if you're watching your league's waiver wire. If you're in a competitive league, it's important to learn about injuries and updates as they happen. Enjoy.

So what happened today around the NFL?

Chad Johnson's shoulder injury is worse than expected. Johnson is expected to wear a harness which may allow him to still play this season. Another hit could spell trouble for fantasy owners.

Tom Brady announced that he expects to be fine for Week 1 after dealing with a foot ailment.

Peyton Manning might be activated by the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, although the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player is not expected to play in the team's final preseason game Thursday night.

Kevin Curtis is optimistic after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He didn't set a timetable, but is confident he won't miss much of the regular season.

Ahman Green remains sidelined by his groin ailment.

Chad Pennington has been officially named the Dolphins' starting quarterback for Week 1.

Regardless of the rumors, Kurt Warner has NOT yet been named the starter in Arizona.

And finally...drum roll please...Michael Strahan MAY be back in New York after Osi Umenyiora's season-ending knee injury. First Favre, now Strahan. Has anyone talked to Barry Sanders lately? I'm sure Detroit would welcome him back.

Boy Ahman Green sure hasn't been the same since he was in Green Bay. Good move by the Pack letting him run off to Houston where they over paid for the oft injured back.

And Wisenhunt better name Warner as the starter, I need him!
