2014 Fantasy Football Rankings

Monday, Jun 2, 2014 at 12:00 pm ET

Welcome to the 2014 fantasy football season! Initial rankings, projections, and auction values are available, and we're working hard to get the rest of the sites included as soon as they start publishing for 2014. The initial rankings are awfully close between the top three consensus players: Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, and Adrian Peterson. Charles is coming off a healthy, productive year. McCoy is a perfect pit in that Philly offense and the addition of Darren Sproles shouldn't impact him too much. Peterson will be the only sure thing in that Minnesota offense. Compared to last year, it's interesting to see Matt Forte and Eddie Lacy ranked just ahead of Megatron.

You'll see some of the big off-season trades and free agents reflected in the rankings as well. A lot has happened in the off-season. Here's a quick rundown of the biggest moves.

Josh Freeman has joined the NY Giants as a backup to Eli Manning who is coming off his worst NFL season last year. Freeman's value is certainly much higher in the real NFL world than in the fantasy one.

Chris Johnson has left the Titans to join a rebuilding NY Jets team. Johnson will receive $8 million over 2 years and Rex Ryan is hoping that CJ2K still has some gas left in the tank.

DeSean Jackson has flown from Philly to Washington. He'll remain in the NFC East, and along with Pierre Garcon, he should give a boost to RGIII and the Redskins' offense.

Knowshon Moreno was exceptional in Denver last year, but it's going to be Montee Ball's show there now. Moreno should factor in plenty in Miami's backfield this year.

Champ Bailey also left Denver. He's taken his talents to New Orleans, and if he can stay healthy, he should be able to contribute to the Saints secondary.

LeGarrette Blount left New England for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's reasonable to think that he'll split carries with Le'Veon Bell.

Maurice Jones-Drew was a fixture in Jacksonville, so it will be weird to see him in an Oakland Raiders uniform. Darren McFadden is guaranteed to miss time as he has in years past. Adding MJD to the mix leaves us with some questions as to splits in playing time.

Michael Vick will compete for the starting gig in New York with Geno Smith to become the Jets starting QB.

Mark Sanchez struggled with the Jets so it wasn't a huge surprise to see him released after the Jets signed Michael Vick. Sanchez will now play backup to Nick Foles.

Return superstar Devin Hester has left the Windy City for Atlanta.

Lance Moore will have Big Ben throwing to him instead of Drew Brees this year. Opposite Antonio Brown, Moore has the speed to help spread the field in Pittsburgh.

Perhaps no other receiver has ever meant as much to the Panthers or their fans as Steve Smith. Smith gives Joe Flacco a dynamic target to compliment Torrey Smith.

It will be difficult to replace Steve Smith, but the Panthers have signed Jerricho Cotchery in an attempt to do just that.

James Jones has left the hallowed tundra of Lambeau Field to join the Oakland Raiders.

Ben Tate has been a fantastic fantasy RB when Arian Foster was injured. Now it's the Ben Tate show in Cleveland where the Browns have struggled to get a running game going.

Eric Decker was very productive the past two seasons with Peyton Manning under center. We expect to see his fantasy production suffer with either Geno Smith or Michael Vick throwing him the ball.

With Eric Decker out, Emmanuel Sanders has found a new home in Denver.

Julius Peppers may be on the back nine of an incredible career, but he's going to spend that time playing for the Bears nemesis to the north: the Green Bay Packers.

Hakeem Nicks was passed over as the #1 receiver in the Big Apple, so he took his talents to the Colts. Andrew Luck now has three great weapons in Reggie Wayne, TY Hilton, and Nicks.

These are the biggest names and movers this offseason. We'll keep an eye on any future movements and their impacts on our 2014 fantasy football rankings.
