Week 6 Waiver Wire Targets

Here are 5 guys to target this week on your league's waiver wire.



Aaron Jones, RB - GB

With Ty Montgomery sidelined dealing with broken ribs, the Green Bay running game didn't miss a beat with Aaron Jones playing 53-of-60 snaps (88%). He managed to turn that into a very productive day turning in 125 yards and a score. For reference, Jamaal Williams saw just two plays. If Montgomery isn't cleared in time to play in Week 6, expect to see more Aaron Jones. Even if and when Montgomery does play, Jones may have earned himself some extra playing time.

Wayne Gallman, RB - NYG

With Paul Perkins out, Gallman started the game behind Orleans Darkwa who looked really good rushing 8 times for 69 yards and a score. Then he injured his calf, and Gallman took over tallying up 82 total yards 16 touches and on 5 catches. Gallman could be in for a large workload, and that volume can translate into fantasy relevance. His value may slip over the next three weeks though. He has a date with Denver and Seattle followed by a Week 8 bye, but with a depleted wide receiving corp, he should be busy.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE - NYJ

Seferian-Jenkins led the team in targets last week, and while he only has 106 yards over the last three games, he is tied for the team lead in targets (18) over that time. He put up a respectable 6 for 29 yards and a score against Cleveland. With the Patriots on tap next, ASJ should see plenty more targets.

Andre Ellington, RB - ARI

When David Johnson was lost, the questions circled around who in the Arizona backfield should be owned. If you're in a PPR league, that answer looks to be Andre Ellington who led the team in receptions for the second straight game. He hasn't had more than 5 touches in a game so far, but he hauled in 9 catches for 65 yards on 10 targets last week. With Tampa Bay on the calendar next, Ellington could be a nice flex play option.

UPDATE Regarding Adrian Peterson

Since this was written, the Saints have traded Adrian Peterson to the Cardinals and let Chris Johnson go to make room. We've been inundated with questions regarding AP so an update is in order.

It's not lost on me that the last time Chris Johnson played well was in 2015 which is the same year that Adrian Peterson was fantasy relevant. The Cardinals are ranked dead last in the league in rushing and Peterson has looked every bit of his 32 years of age so there's not much to get excited about given what we've seen so far. Cardinals' QB Carson Palmer leads the league in pass attempts. There is no reason to think that the addition of Peterson is going to drastically change that.

Adrian Peterson is still a brand name, and I'm confident that plenty of people are going to grab him from the waiver wire, but control your expectations. This isn't the same guy that led the league in rushing. If in a PPR league, I'd still rather have Ellington as a potential flex option.

Marlon Mack, RB - IND

It may be Frank Gore's team, but watching this game, Marlon Mack was clearly the better running back on Sunday. He took it to the house on 9 carries for 91 yards including a 22-yard score. HC Chuck Pagano had nothing but glowing things to say after the game for Mack. It would not be surprising to see Mack's role grow; nor would it be surprising to see a RBBC approach develop here. His Week 6 matchup will be tough (Tennessee) but Week 7 looks like a sweet matchup.
