Whether its with players or coaches, there are always plenty of roster moves each offseason. Those moves along with other developments tend to open up opportunities for other players. Here are 5 wide receivers ready for a break out season.
1. Chris Godwin (WR - )
While Godwin was good last year, he's set to be even better in 2019 for two big reasons. The first is the departure of DeSean Jackson giving him an opportunity to move up the depth chart opposite starting stud Mike Evans. The second is new head coach Bruce Arians. With Godwin in the slot, look for more opportunities. He's projected for a healthy increase over last year's stats and could reach the 1,000 yard mark. His schedule is favorable all year with the exception of the fantasy post season.
He's currently ranked 21st among WRs making him a low-end WR2. He's going near the end of the fifth round, but we wouldn't hesitate to draft him as early as the fourth. As we get closer to August, look for that ADP to rise.
2. Robby Anderson (WR - )
With Sam Darnold starting his second season, look for him to target Anderson downfield often. Anderson is a fantastic deep-ball receiver with plenty of weekly upside. There will be other mouths to feed in New York (Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder), but Anderson fits that vertical threat role better than most receivers in the NFL, and he's likely available in your draft as your WR3/Flex.
He's currently ranked 29th among WRs, and with an ADP currently in the 7th round, Anderson is a fantastic value target.
3. Mike Williams (WR - )
After scoring 10 touchdowns, you'd think that Williams would be on everyone's radar, but his 664 receiving yards and a solidified depth chart position of WR3 on the Chargers' offense kept him off most fantasy owners must-have list. With Tyrell Williams no longer in the mix, Mike should be able to shine a bit more playing opposite Keenan Allen. He averaged a healthy 15.4 yards per catch last year and is expected to have a larger role in the offense this year. As long as TE Hunter Henry doesn't hog all the red-zone targets, Williams should be able to see minor regression in the TD category.
He's currently ranked 30th among WRs making him a low-end WR2. Look for him somewhere in the middle of the fifth round.
4. Dante Pettis (WR - )
The return of Jimmy Garoppolo combined with the lack of a clear alternative WR1 in Kyle Shanahan's offense is great news for Pettis. While he wasn't much of a factor last season, we did get to see what he was capable of from Weeks 12-15 where he averaged 18 fantasy points (PPR). He knows the playbook and has an opportunity to step up to be a weekly starter for your team in 2019. It also doesn't hurt that he has one of the easier schedules for fantasy wide receivers this year.
He's currently ranked 34th among WRs making him a low-end WR3 with fantastic upside. His ADP has him going in the eighth round.
5. Sterling Shepard (WR - )
With Odell Beckham Jr. in Cleveland, the WR1 spot is open on the Giants depth chart. Shepard knows the system and has played well in Beckham's absence, but he'll have to compete with newly-acquired Golden Tate. Both men are ideal candidates to line up in the slot and will compete for targets - not just amongst themselves but also with Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram. Whether Shepard lines up in the slot or on the outside, he's a known quantity and could very well see 120+ targets this year.
He's currently ranked 35th among WRs making him a low-end WR3 with fantastic upside. His ADP has him going in the eighth round.
