Week 10 Start / Sit Advice
This is the Fantasy Nerd's look at the best and worst matchups for Week 10 of the 2022 NFL season. Analysis is aggregated from multiple sources including FN. Rankings are based upon PPR (point per reception) scoring. Given the known conditions, these matchups are the ones to watch and/or avoid.
Please Note: This list does not generally include the elite players that you are going to start regardless of matchup. You don't need us to tell you to start Christian McCaffrey, Travis Kelce, or Cooper Kupp. Instead, we take a look at other players on your team that we believe either have great matchups or should be avoided for multiple reasons. Factors like opposing defense, performance trending, and peer comparisons may influence our decisions.
Start 'em Tua Tagovailoa (MIA, QB)Keep the Tua train going. After back to back weeks of at least 24 fantasy points, Tua is on a roll. Cleveland will provide a more difficult matchup, but the offensive weapons at Tua's disposal have been on fire. He may not repeat 24+ points, but he should deliver enough to remain in QB1 discussions.
Start 'em Justin Fields (CHI, QB)Justin Fields is not going to be the traditional, pocket-passing QB. He only has one game this year with more than 200 passing yards, but what he lacks in passing production is largely offset by his rushing stats. Facing Detroit this week is the ideal scenario for someone like Fields making him a Top 10 play for Week 10.
Start 'em Daniel Jones (NYG, QB)Fresh off a bye, Daniel Jones will return to the field seeing a difficult matchup. Like Fields above, what Jones may not produce through the air should be offset by his legs. Houston gives up the the most rushing yards per game, so as long as he has room to run, he's a great bye week filler for fantasy owners.
Start 'em Tony Pollard (DAL, RB)It looks like Zeke will suit up this week, but don't rush to put Pollard on the bench. He's still a solid flex option against a Green Bay defense that gives up the 6th-most yards per carry to RBs this season. If Zeke doesn't play, Pollard's value flirts with high-end RB2 status.
Start 'em Jamaal Williams (DET, RB)Even with D'Andre Swift in the game the last two weeks, Jamaal Williams remains a fixture in this offense. He's averaging almost 16 carries every game this season. It's reasonable to think that Swift's touches will increase, but Williams' volume and efficiency will keep him in RB2 discussions - especially in a matchup with the Bears who is giving up the 5th-most fantasy points to RBs this year.
Start 'em Christian Kirk (JAC, WR)One of the better surprises this year has been Christian Kirk who has developed a rapport with Trevor Lawrence. He's the leading receiver for the team and averaging 14 fantasy points each week. He's got such a nice matchup this week against the Chiefs who have been very generous to receivers on the year.
Start 'em Josh Palmer (LAC, WR)Without Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, it was Josh Palmer's turn to shine last week and he delivered a nice 18 point fantasy day hauling in 8 of his 10 targets for 106 yards. The matchup against the Niners this week is going to be tougher, but they can be had. Cooper Kupp, JuJu Smith-Schuster, & Mecole Hardman all put up at least 20 points. We'll see if Allen makes it back this week as that could limit Palmer's role.
Start 'em Allen Lazard (GB, WR)Other than the Green Bay running backs, Lazard is the only viable offensive option here. If Romeo Doubs misses any time, Lazard could see some additional targets which slightly boosts his value. The Cowboys present an interesting challenge as they rank right in the middle in terms of fantasy points allowed, but Lazard's role in this offense keeps him in flex territory.
Start 'em David Njoku (CLE, TE)This obviously depends upon whether or not Njoku will suit up, but he's indicated that he's ready to return this week. Assuming he does, he's in for a smash start opportunity here. Miami gives up the third most fantasy points to tight ends on the year. The Bears' Cole Kmet pulled in 22 points last week and everyone from Irv Smith to Pat Freiermuth has scored at least 10 points.

Start 'em Greg Dulcich (DEN, TE)It's time to put Greg Dulcich into your lineups. He's scored double digit points in each game that he has played, and he's got a fantastic matchup with the Titans this week. Tennessee ranks in the Top 10 for most points surrendered to TEs on the season.
Start 'em New Orleans Saints (NO, DEF)The Saints have not been the shutdown defense that they've been in years past; however, a matchup with rookie Kenny Pickett and the Steelers puts them on the streamable list for Week 10.
Start 'em Daniel Carlson (LV, K)The Colts have been pretty lenient to opposing kickers this season ranking near the Top 10 in fantasy points allowed. Combine that with the fact that Daniel Carlson hasn't missed a field goal yet this season, and as long as the Raiders can move the ball near the red zone, Carlson should be able to continue averaging double digit fantasy production.
Sit 'em Kirk Cousins (MIN, QB)Cousins has been a Top 10 fantasy QB this season so far, but he'll have a tough road show matchup against the Bills who have a solid secondary. In fact, the Bills have not allowed any QB to score more than 20 fantasy points this season and that includes Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Cousins is a sit right now.
Sit 'em Aaron Rodgers (GB, QB)Aaron Rodgers' woes continue. After losing to the Lions last week, there simply isn't much steam left here. Rodgers is consistently delivering 14 points each week, but that's only good enough to be the 17th-best fantasy QB this season. Dallas is going to pressure him all day long, and given that this playbook has been effective against him all year, we're anticipating another awful fantasy day for the reigning back-to-back NFL MVP.
Sit 'em Derek Carr (LV, QB)It would have seemed a reasonable assumption that adding Davante Adams to the team would translate into better fantasy production for Derek Carr and we simply haven't seen it. A matchup with the Colts isn't likely to change that as Indy gives up the 6th-fewest passing yards per game and they rank in the Top 12 in fewest fantasy points allowed. Mac Jones was limited to just 9 fantasy points last week.
Sit 'em James Conner (ARI, RB)In his first game back after missing three games, James Conner managed just 7 carries but he tacked on 5 receptions. It wasn't a big fantasy day, but the upside is that Conner looked good and is being eased back into the game. The downside this week is that the Rams have really done a good job of limiting RBs not named Christian McCaffrey. When a healthy James Conner played the Rams back in Week 3, he managed just 8.7 points.
Sit 'em Melvin Gordon (DEN, RB)It's a tough matchup. The Titans give up the 4th-fewest fantasy points to RBs this year and the backfield got a bit more crowded with the addition of Chase Edmonds. Gordon will likely see the early down work, but Edmonds will eat into his volume and will remain touchdown dependent from a fantasy perspective. It's tough to expect more than a low-level flex option out of Gordon this week.
Sit 'em Deon Jackson (IND, RB)With plenty of people expecting Deon Jackson to lead the backfield last week, a knee injury cut short those expectations. This week, assuming he's ready to go, he'll likely play behind Jonathan Taylor limiting his value. Unfortunately, Deon Jackson is looking like a one-week starter who failed to live up to expectations. Stash him on the bench in the event that JT misses time again.
Sit 'em Courtland Sutton (DEN, WR)After a hot start to the season, Courtland Sutton has largely left fantasy owners in the dark. It's a great matchup this week, but his usage and the general pedestrian nature of the Denver offense hurts his fantasy value. Over his last three games, Sutton has averaged 3.6 fantasy points (PPR). He's worth considering as a WR3/Flex, but you'll need to bank on him making the most of this targets in a plus matchup. It's possible but recent history suggests it's a risk.
Sit 'em Adam Thielen (MIN, WR)It's safe to say that Adam Thielen is on the back nine of his NFL career. It's also safe to say that he has to compete for targets in a way that he hasn't had to before. Justin Jefferson is the alpha here with Dalvin Cook and now T.J. Hockenson competing for targets. Add in a tough matchup against one of the league's better secondaries and Thielen is no more than a WR3/Flex option.
Sit 'em Hunter Renfrow (LV, WR)Remember when Hunter Renfrow was considered PPR gold? It was just last year, but those days seem so long ago as he's topped 10 targest just once this season. Excluding that game, he's averaging just 3.8 targets per game. That has translated into just 6.4 fantasy points/game on the season. There's simply not enough volume coming his way to make him even a flex option, and a tough matchup against Indy isn't going to change his fortunes.
Sit 'em Robert Tonyan (GB, TE)The Packers offense is a mess. Bobby Tonyan is a great target and has shown what he's capable of in the past, but he's simply not on the field enough to make him a viable streaming option this week. He only has one game all season where he managed to hit 10 fantasy points. Couple low usage with a tough matchup and Tonyan belongs on the bench.
Sit 'em Dawson Knox (BUF, TE)Normally, you'd want any of the receiving threats on the Bills, but Dawson Knox has certainly not lived up to that billing. He's the 24th best fantasy TE this season. He's seeing 3.8 targets/game but barely making those productive. He's delivered just one outing with double-digit production leaving both his floor and ceiling far lower than expected. Minnesota is tough but not a lockdown defense for TEs. Unfortunately, Knox's usage doesn't warrant starting consideration right now.
Sit 'em Minnesota Vikings (MIN, DEF)This one really comes down to who will be under center. If Josh Allen is able to give it a go (which at this time is our assumption), then there's simply no way that you can start the Vikings. If, however, Case Keenum gets the start, we'd be willing to consider Minnesota.
Sit 'em Cade York (CLE, K)Cade York is currently the 11th-best fantasy kicker on the season, but he's also missed multiple kicks this year and will face one of the stingiest defenses for kickers on the season. There are better streaming options this week.

I might sit David Montgomery as well. With Herbert and Fields eating into his volume, I feel like his situation is a bit more dire than Fournette's. Could go with either one though.

Start JPalmer over MPittman this week? I think the Colts offense is in serious trouble... Pittman may come back to being a top WR but how long might it take? Palmer can ball out if Allen/Williams are still out, right? TIA!

Yep - I'd go with Palmer as well. Keenan Allen still day to day. Better QB play as well.

Who do I start? Mostert or Jeff Wilson Jr I'm leaning towards Jeff Wilson Jr after last week he was getting most of the workload in the Redzone and catching more passes. PPR league.

Great question. I know the rankings have Mostert, but I'd probably lean more towards Wilson. He was more efficient and will probably be more valuable as a pass-catching back.

The TE's are a tough one because of the matchups. I'd personally go with Goedert. As far as your kickers are concerned, first I have to ask why do you have so many kickers?! LOL Who to start? Kickers is usually a crapshoot. Do you have a 3 sided coin you can flip? I guess if I had to pick one I would go Butker just barely over Carlson.

This is for three different PPR leagues:
- Flex WR Sutton or Peoples-Jones? Or even RB Herbert? Respective opponent team matchups seem pretty good for all three. Leaning toward Peoples-Jones.
- Start Gallup or Peoples-Jones at WR? And flex Singletary or Gordon III? Thinking Peoples-Jones and Singletary.
- Start Taysom or Higbee, or pickup Engram or Moreau? No idea with this one. Maybe Engram.
