David Peralta

This is probably a scheduled day off for Tatis, who had played four games in a row since returning from his stress reaction. It doesn't come as a great time, though, as Jackson Merrill is out of the lineup after getting hurt last night. The Padres have Tyler Wade in center and David Peralta in right.

This was bound to happen with Fernando Tatis Jr. back, though the Padres did start him and give Jurickson Profar a rest on Monday. Peralta has been excellent these last two months, hitting .293/.342/.490 in 158 plate appearances, so the Padres will continue to mix and match with him when it makes sense.

Johnson got a lot of playing time in pace of Fernando Tatis. Jr initially after being called up, but David Peralta overtook him, and Johnson was mostly a defensive replacement of late. He hit .206/.286/.238 in 73 plate appearances.
