The left-handed-hitting Naylor was out of the lineup in favor of Austin Hedges versus righties the last two days, yet he's in there against lefty Carlos Rodon tonight. The lineup: LF Steven Kwan, DH David Fry, 3B Jose Ramirez, CF Lane Thomas, 1B Josh Naylor, RF Jhonkensy Noel, C Bo Naylor, 2B Andres Gimenez, SS Brayan Rocchio.
Rodon was outstanding over the first four innings, with the only mistake coming on an RBI double on a terrific at-bat from Bo Naylor that drove in big brother Josh. The swing-and-miss stuff was readily apparent, but he did give up a second run in the fifth on a sharp single up the middle by Steven Kwan. He should be ready to start Game 2 of the World Series.
Schneeman, who started 61 games between six positions following his June callup and hit .218/.303/.368 in 221 plate appearances, is getting the nod over Will Brennan and Jhonkensy Noel in right field today. The Guardians are also going with Austin Hedges over Bo Naylor behind the plate. The lineup: LF Steven Kwan, DH Kyle Manzardo, 3B ose Ramirez, 1B Josh Naylor, CF Lane Thomas, RF Schneemann, 2B Andres Gimenez, C Austin Hedges and SS Brayan Rocchio.
Manzardo will get his first start of the postseason after two appearances as a pinch-hitter in the first two series. The 24-year-old gets the start with David Fry moving to the bench. The full lineup against Keider Montero and the Detroit bullpen: LF Steven Kwan, DH Manzardo, 3B Jose Ramirez, 1B Josh Naylor, Lane Thomas CF, 2B Andres Gimenez, RF Will Brennan, C Bo Naylor and SS Brayan Roccio.
