Jung crushed a 408-foot (109.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Ryan Thompson in the fifth inning that extended the Rangers' advantage to 6-0. He also grounded out and struck out in the contest, finishing the day 1-for-3. Jung's blast was his first home run and first RBI of the spring as he's hitting .286 (4-for-14) in the early going. The most important thing though is that he hasn't had any injury concerns to speak of.
On the plus side, three of the five outs that Rea did record came via the strikeout -- with Josh Jung, Sam Haggerty and Ezequiel Duran his victims. The run that the Rangers scratched out against him came in the opening inning as Marcus Semien singled, Corey Seager drew a walk and Jake Burger followed with a run-scoring knock. Rea is expected to be utilized in a swingman role to begin the season.
Jung (wrist) has no physical limitations to start spring training, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.
