The Tigers placed Cobb (hip) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Cobb will open the regular season on the injured list with a right hip impingement. The 37-year-old veteran should be ready to rejoin Detroit's rotation by late April, but he's going to need several weeks to fully ramp up before his season debut.
Cobb (hip) threw a bullpen session Saturday and is slated to throw another one Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
