Tobias Myers

Myers struck out seven, but he was hit pretty hard, surrendering eight balls hit at least 100 mph, and he also walked four. In truth, he was pretty lucky to surrender just the two earned runs. As a five-inning pitcher struggling to get wins, Myers isn't generally very attractive in shallow leagues right now. Still, he makes for a pretty good play this week, as he has a home start against the Rockies coming up.

Myers surrendered only two hits, but a pair of them wound up leaving the ballpark courtest of solo shits by Matt Chapman and Grant McCray. He generated only five swinging strikes and finished with a lackluster 24 percent CSW. The 26-year-old righty was on a roll coming out of last month's All-Star break, but he's struggled to work deep into has last couple outings, which might be a sign that he's hitting a bit of a workload plateau. He'll square off against the Reds on Sunday in a tough road matchup.

Myers wasn't especially sharp in this one. He usually hangs around the edges of the strike zone, but let too many bleed over the middle here. The Cardinals made him pay for those mistakes and grinded out plenty of long at-bats that subsequently turned into long innings. Myers threw 89 pitches in four difficult pitches and was lucky to leave with only two runs on his ledger. Next up will be an intriguing two-start week, first against the Giants and then in Cincinnati to face the Reds.
