Perez is slated to miss at least one month due to lumbar spine inflammation. The 25-year-old outfielder's absence paves the way for Javier Baez and Manuel Margot to take over as Detroit's primary center fielders with Parker Meadows (arm) sidelined with a nerve-related issue.

He'll receive an anti-inflammatory injection this week and will be sidelined until at least late April. His absence creates some additional runway for recently added veteran Manuel Margot to take over as Detroit's starting center fielder.
Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that Perez is scheduled to receive an injection in his lower back this week and will be sidelined for at least a month, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
