
The 24-year-old said he finished last season at 167 pounds following the longest season of his professional career. One of his priorities in the offseason was to add bulk and build "back the sort of body" that would withstand such a long grind. Last year he hit .259/.320/.335 in 145 games, but his 83.4 mph average exit velocity was among the lowest in baseball, so Frelick hopes the added mass will help improve those numbers. With Christian Yelich likely back by Opening Day and Garrett Mitchell healthy, Frelick is also going to get looks at third base this spring to find ways to keep him in the lineup regularly.
