NBC SportsDavid Bednar allowed one unearned run on one hit while taking the loss against the Pirates on Sunday.

Derek Hill started the ninth inning off with an infield single. He then attempted to steal second base when Endy Rodriguez soared the throw into center field, allowing Hill to take third base. On the next pitch, Rodriguez was unable to block a splitter in the dirt, and Hill scored on a wild pitch to win the game. Bednar is 0-2 with a 27.00 ERA on the season, but now may be the time to buy him in fantasy leagues. He is sitting 97 mph with his four-seamer fastball and has been let down by his defense and luck in his first few outings.

NBC SportsEndy Rodriguez made his first start of the spring at first base Monday, but he struck out in all three of his at-bats.

At least until Spencer Horwitz returns, Rodriguez will probably see considerable action at first in addition to serving as the Pirates' backup catcher. It should make him a decent option in two-catcher mixed leagues, if only for the first two or three weeks.

NBC SportsHenry Davis hit a grand slam in the ninth inning Saturday to punctuate the Pirates' 15-5 rout of the Orioles.

Davis is 7-for-26 with two homers as he tries to beat out Endy Rodriguez and Jason Delay for a job behind Joey Bart. Both Davis and Rodriguez have spent all their time either catching or DHing this spring, which would seem to indicate that there's no chance of the Pirates carrying one with the intention of giving him time at another position. It still probably makes the most sense to go with Delay and let Davis and Rodriguez play regularly in Triple-A initially.
