Keider Montero

After knocking a base hit in the second inning, Merrill took Keider Montero deep for a three-run blast in the fourth. He collected his third hit with a double in the seventh. Starting the tenth inning on second base, he scored the winning run on a walk-off single by Fernando Tatis Jr. The 21-year-old outfielder has been one of the most impressive rookies, hitting .294/.326/.502 with 22 homers, 82 RBI, and 16 steals across 519 plate appearances.

Neto now has 20 homers of the season with a two-run shot off Keider Montero. The 23-year-old doesn't exactly play in a loaded lineup, so the fact he's picked up 66 RBI becomes a little more impressive. Neto's hit tool hasn't really shown up with a .253 average, but the talent is here for him to someday be a first-division shortstop.

Lee smacked a game-tying RBI double off of Keider Montero in the fifth inning that knotted things up at 2-2. That would wind up being the extent of the White Sox' scoring in the ballgame. With the three-hit attack, the 26-year-old backstop is now hitting .223/.254/.368 with 10 homers, 31 RBI and five stolen bases over 102 games on the season.

There was hope that Vargas would flourish following a trade from the Dodgers the cleared the path for him to see every day at-bats. Unfortunately, he has responded by slashing a cringe-inducing .093/.219/.167 with one homer, three RBI and a 17/8 K/BB ratio in 64 plate appearances with his new club. Lenyn Sosa is starting in his place at the hot corner and batting eighth against Keider Montero and the Tigers on Friday night.
