Gomber was able to throw 3 2/3 innings in a Cactus League game on Saturday, so his return should be right around the corner. Bradley Blalock might get one turn in his place the first time a fifth starter is needed.
With Austin Gomber likely to open on the IL, Blalock figures to make the Rockies' Opening Day roster. The question is whether he'll get any starts; the Rockies won't need a No. 5 until the middle of April and Gomber might be ready by then. Blalock's velocity is up two mph from last year, and he has the look of someone who might be a quality starter for the Rockies. It's just not very relevant for fantasy purposes.
