Yamamoto allowed five hits and two walks to go with the punchouts. Both runs allowed came off solo homers; one from Dillon Dingler, the other from Gleyber Torres. Minus those round-trippers -- and even with them -- he was excellent, generating 17 swinging strikes from his 91 offerings. His next start isn't scheduled, but he'll likely face the Phillies next weekend.
Yamamoto came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out 10.

Torres grabbed at his side while rounding the bases on his home run trot and immediately retreated into the tunnel with the training staff when he was finished. Torres came back out and played for another couple of innings but was ultimately removed prior to the sixth. The Tigers are already short-handed on offense without Parker Meadows, Matt Vierling and Wenceel Perez, so losing Torres for any significant amount of time would be a major blow.
Torkelson had a huge Opening Day for the Tigers -- blasting a solo home run and walking four times -- so it's good to see him earn the trust of manager A.J. Hinch and remain in the lineup against right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Friday night. If what he did during Grapefruit League play wasn't a mirage, he may wind up being one of the best overall values of the 2025 fantasy season.
