NBC SportsJordan Hicks limited the Royals to one run over 5 2/3 innings in the Giants' 3-1 victory Wednesday.

Bobby Witt Jr.'s homer accounted for the Royals' only run tonight. Hicks struck out three and walked none. His velocity is back up to 95-99 mph this spring, which seems encouraging. He tended to average 99-100 mph with his sinking fastball while working as a reliever, but he was down to 94.7 mph as a starter last year. His average tonight was 97.4 mph.

NBC SportsJordan Hicks had another rough outing in Friday's start against the Brewers, surrendering four runs on five hits in just 2 2/3 innings.

Hicks walked one and struck out one during the disappointing performance. It started out well, as the right-hander had allowed just one hit through two scoreless innings to start the day. Things fell apart in the third though as three straight Brewers reached base with one out and Christian Yelich followed with a game-changing grand slam. Hicks is still penciled into a spot in the Giants' Opening Day rotation, but his 9.45 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over 6 2/3 innings in Cactus League competition has to give the Giants' brass some cause for concern.

NBC SportsChristian Yelich clobbered a grand slam on Friday afternoon, propelling the Brewers to an 11-5 victory over the Giants in Cactus League action.

Giants' right-hander Jordan Hicks cruised through the first two innings unscathed, but the Brewers put pressure on him in the third with a one-out walk and a pair of singles to load the bases. That's when Yelich stepped to the dish and unloaded them with a thunderous blast to center. The 33-year-old outfielder finished the day 1-for-3 and is now hitting .278 (5-for-18) with three homers and nine RBI so far on the spring.
