Garcia takes a seat with tough southpaw Jesus Luzardo toeing the rubber for Philadelphia. It'll be veteran Amed Rosario drawing into the lineup in his place. The 24-year-old second baseman batted third in Thursday's season opener, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and one stolen base.
.171/.167/.195 is Rosario's line in 42 plate appearances this spring. He hasn't been able to insert himself into the mix at third base for the Nationals, though the team doesn't seem to like him there anyway; he's thus far started five times at second, four times at short, twice in left and just once at third.
Rosario told reporters that he would've played if it were a regular season game, but he didn't want to take any chances. He should return to Washington's lineup at some point later this week.
