Since returning from an extended absence with a shoulder injury, Jones has been much more involved on offense. He scored at least 20 points just three times last season, but he has reached that mark twice in the six games since returning. He has had to shoulder more of the offensive workload due to the injuries to Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, but it also helps having Dejounte Murray to run the offense. Jones didn't get any defensive stats in this game, but that was the first time that has happened this season, so it isn't that he has had to sacrifice on that end to supply offense.
Murray continues to struggle with efficiency, but the counting stats have been better for him recently. He is averaging a career-high in turnovers while boasting the worst field goal percentage of his career in his first year with the Pelicans. He has only played nine games, so it isn't time to freak out yet, but it has certainly been a frustrating start to his tenure with the team in what has been a disappointing year for them. Though it hasn't happened yet, he'll eventually start to figure things out.
Murray's double-double on Sunday was his first since the season-opener, which was also the game in which he suffered a broken hand. The Pelicans' point guard also established a new season-high with 11 assists, improving his fantasy value. Over the past week, Murray has provided 4th-round value in 9-cat formats. New Orleans plays two more games during the expanded Week 7 (Yahoo leagues), beginning with the Spurs on Thursday.
The Pelicans are without Brandon Ingram indefinitely after he injured his ankle during Saturday's loss to the Thunder. Murphy, who's already rostered in most standard leagues, moves into the starting lineup. He should be a popular target in shallow leagues.
Ingram is the latest Pelicans star to be sidelined with injury, joining Zion Williamson, Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum and Herb Jones.
