Does Jayson Tatum have a realistic chance to win NBA MVP this season? Here's where the Celtics star stands in ESPN's first straw poll.
Tatum contributed 28 points (12-26 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds and two assists over 35 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 win over the Wizards.
Tatum's 28 points were a game-high. He led the way for Boston and took nearly twice as many shots anyone else on the Celtics. Tatum didn't have his 3-point shot working in this one as he made just 2-of-9 attempts from behind the 3-point line. Tatum has been dealing with a knee injury that caused him to miss Thursday's game against the Pistons and showed a little rust Sunday against the Wizards. The 26-year-old small forward has been a top-10 player in fantasy on a per-game basis this season.
Tatum (knee) is not on the injury report and will be available for Saturday's game against the Wizards, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports.
Horford had a toe injury earlier this month, but his absence on Sunday is simply for rest reasons. The Celtics don't play again until Thursday, getting their 38-year-old center six days of rest. Jayson Tatum will be back in the lineup, so Horford would likely come off the bench if available.
