Coffey replaced Nicolas Batum in the starting lineup on Monday for defensive reasons. Clippers coach Tyronn Lue preferred Coffey to defend one of Utah's guards (Keyonte George or Collin Sexton), allowing James Harden to defend John Collins. The lineup change worked, as Harden came out scalding hot, with Coffey doing most of his offensive damage in the fourth quarter (3-of-3 FGs) after the outcome was no longer in doubt. We'll see who Lue starts on Thursday when the Clippers visit Dallas. However, Coffey and Batum (four points, three rebounds, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 16 minutes) offer limited value in matchups against more formidable opposition.
Collins is in the midst of the one of the best seasons of his career, and performances like this one are why. He is averaging career-highs in assists, 3-pointers, steals and free throw percentages, and those categories have gone from weak to average for him. At the same time, Collins hasn't sacrificed in points, rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage. JC's game has fit flawlessly in 9-cat leagues this year, and he'll continue to be a reliable fantasy option as long as he is in Utah.
Markanen missed Friday's game but is back in the starting lineup Sunday against Sacramento. Svi Mykhailiuk will head back to the bench. Keyonte George, Collin Sexton, John Collins, and Walker Kessler complete the Jazz starting five.
Collins didn't have a huge game Friday as the Jazz blew out the Trail Blazers by 42 points, but he still was efficient as he had 20 points on 10 shots. He was +32 in 28 minutes in the win. While Collins is a top-25 player in fantasy, with the Jazz at 5-17 even after this victory, he's at risk of being shutdown later this season.
With Lauri Markkanen (back) being a late scratch, Mykhailiuk has been tabbed to fill the void. Svi can provide points and 3-pointers in this role, and the start makes him a worthwhile streamer in deep leagues. Brice Sensabaugh and Johnny Juzang should also figure prominently in the rotation with Markkanen sidelined. Keyonte George, Collin Sexton, John Collins, and Walker Kessler complete the starting quintet.
