Poole got off to a hot start on Monday and scored 11 points in just the first quarter. He was able to have a solid scoring night, but he was limited to just 22 minutes. This wasn't the first time that Poole's minutes have been cut short by Washington prioritizing improving their lottery odds. He has played less than 30 minutes in five straight games and less than 25 minutes in three of those. Poole has had a strong season, but Washington's emphasis on building for the future will continue to limit his fantasy impact.
Middleton is back after sitting out Saturday's loss to the Knicks. However, his return does not mean Carrington will head to the bench. Instead, Justin Champagnie will be used in a reserve role, which lowers his fantasy ceiling. However, he will remain in the rotation and play quality minutes.
Poole produced 25 points (9-17 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes during Saturday's 122-103 loss to New York.
After a three-game slump in which he scored 29 points on 11-of-30 shooting, Poole got untracked Saturday night. And he was one of the catalysts for the Wizards after halftime, shooting 5-of-10 from the field in the second half as Washington cut a 33-point deficit down to four. The Wizards did not have enough to complete the rally, but Poole's play throughout the season has been encouraging. Washington plays four games during Week 21, starting with the Raptors on Monday.
Saturday's game is the second in as many nights for the Wizards, who lost to the Magic on Friday. Khris Middleton is unavailable for the matchup with the Knicks, opening up a spot in the starting lineup for Carrington. Not only is the rookie worth streaming, but he's also worth holding onto in deep leagues for the rest of the season. Playing time should not be an issue for Bub as the Wizards look to develop their youngsters further.
