Marcus Smart and Konchar are both out with an illness. Memphis has a deep bench, though. Luke Kennard, a 3-point specialist, and Jake LaRavia, a defensive specialist, should see increased minutes Wednesday.
Spencer is healthy enough to be available to make his NBA debut on Wednesday, and it may happen due to Memphis' backcourt injuries. Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, Vince Williams Jr., and John Konchar are all out due to injury. There's no need to consider rostering Spencer, a second-round pick out of UConn.
Memphis' burgeoning injury report opens up minutes for Luke Kennard and Jake LaRavia. Kennard is useful as a three-point streamer, and LaRavia (1.4 steals, 1.8 blocks over his last five games) can be deployed as a defensive specialist.
While Smart being sidelined does hurt the Grizzlies from a depth standpoint, Desmond Bane's availability will help mitigate the impact. He, John Konchar, and Luke Kennard will all be part of the rotation, as will recent starters Scotty Pippen Jr. and Jaylen Wells. If Pippen is sitting on your league's waiver wire, pick him up. He'll have value until Ja Morant (hip) returns.
Smart returned to action on Wednesday after missing time with a sprained ankle, and he may be headed back to the sideline due to an illness. With Desmond Bane back in the lineup and players like John Konchar and Luke Kennard also available, Memphis should not have much trouble spreading around the minutes that would have gone to Smart.
