Green did most of his work in the third quarter of this game. He scored 22 points in the period, which was the highest-scoring quarter of his career. With how well Amen Thompson has played, there have been plenty of questions about how long Green will maintain the starting shooting guard job. Consistency has always been the issue for Green, since he is capable of performances like this, but he had 12 points on sub 40% shooting in each of their last two games. Managers should enjoy this stat line, but don't expect this to continue to be the norm.
Will there come a point when Thompson moves into the starting lineup? Probably not anytime soon, but nights like Saturday will keep the chatter going. While Thompson was excellent in 30 minutes off the bench, starting guards Fred VanVleet (8/9/7/1 with one 3-pointer) and Jalen Green (12/3/2/0/1 with one 3-pointer) combined to shoot 8-of-29 from the field and 2-of-19 from three. Even as a reserve, Thompson should be rostered in most fantasy leagues. However, it's fair to wonder if his ceiling is being limited through no fault of his own.
Jalen Green made two free throws with 3.5 seconds left and the Rockets beat the Warriors 91-90 on Wednesday night to advance to the NBA Cup semifinals against the Thunder in Las Vegas.
Green had a game-high 31 points (9-20 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 8-8 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 36 minutes during Sunday's 117-106 victory over the Clippers.
Fred VanVleet (right knee contusion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game, opening up a space in the starting lineup. Thompson will fill the void, boosting his fantasy value, especially with the Clippers playing Sunday without James Harden. The Rockets' other four starters are unchanged.
