The 76ers announced Tuesday that Lowry has a right hip strain and will miss the team's next three games, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
Lowry injured his hip during Monday's loss to Miami, in which he played 19 minutes as a starter. With Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) potentially returning as soon as Wednesday, he can resume his duties as starting point guard once cleared to play.
Maxey has been out for two weeks with the hamstring injury, but now he's close to returning. If he can't go on Wednesday, Jared McCain will continue to see decent usage with Kyle Lowry also out.
Maxey injured his hamstring during Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, leaving Philadelphia without two of its three stars. Kyle Lowry should be the choice to move into the starting lineup, but he offers limited fantasy value at this stage in his career. Jared McCain and Eric Gordon should also play more minutes while Maxey recovers.
Maxey suffered the injury Wednesday, and he'll be out of action until at least November 21. Joel Embiid will serve the final two games of his suspension and miss Friday's matchup with the Lakers and Sunday's matchup with the Hornets at minimum. Assuming he's healthy, Embiid could make his season debut on November 12 against the Knicks, which would give Philly two of its Big 3. While Maxey is sidelined, expect Eric Gordon, Jared McCain and Kyle Lowry to pick up the slack in the backcourt.
