Franz Wagner has shined with Paolo Banchero out, but how should dynasty managers value him?
Since the Magic lost Paolo Banchero to an oblique injury, Wagner has upped his production noticeably. Over the last two weeks, he has averaged 28.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.7 3-pointers while shooting 46.5% from the field and 86.0% from the foul line. That has been good for top-15 per-game value in 9-cat formats, and Wagner's ranked just outside the top 30 in season-long value.
After scoring 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting in the three games prior, Black had his best offensive game of the season on Monday. The 20 points and nine assists were season-highs for the second-year guard, as were his three 3-pointers. Black's issue has been inconsistency, which has prevented him from taking advantage of the additional opportunities that have come his way with Paolo Banchero sidelined. As an 11th-round player over the last two weeks, Black has only been worth the risk in extremely deep leagues.
It took a few games for Wagner to get used to being the star of the team with Paolo Banchero sidelined, but he has finally figured it out. He extended his streak of 20-point games to seven while leading the Magic to their fifth straight win, which came on the heels of five straight losses. Wagner has been a top ten player in 9-cat leagues during this win streak, and if he is able to keep this team afloat until Banchero returns, he could be in for the first All-Star appearance of his career. Unfortunately, this was Orlando's final game of the week, though they do play four games next week.
Isaac came off the bench to nearly record a double-double in 22 minutes. Isaac has a long history of injury issues and he's battled a hamstring injury already this season. While his injury issues make him a risky play in fantasy, he certainly has some value while Paolo Banchero is out for the Magic.
