Due to Brandon Miller spraining his ankle during Monday's loss to Philadelphia, Martin made his sixth start of the season in Friday's rematch. He was solid against the 76ers, finishing one blocked shot shy of a complete stat line in 20 minutes on the floor. The negative for fantasy managers was the workload, with DaQuan Jeffries (12/5/1/1/1 with two 3-pointers in 30 minutes) and Tidjane Salaun (8/8/5/2 with two 3-pointers in 24 minutes) playing more than Martin. If Miller is back for Monday's game against the Rockets, there's no need to consider any of these three in most fantasy leagues.
Charlotte played Thursday, so it's not surprising that Ball is getting a day off on the second leg of a back-to-back set. Miller sat out Thursday, so he'll miss a second straight contest. Vasilije Micic and Seth Curry are the most likely candidates to replace Ball and Miller in the starting five, though Cody Martin should see a bump in playing time as well.
Miller (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the 76ers.
Prior to his seven-game absence with a calf strain, Ball had been incredibly aggressive on the offensive end. He took at least 30 shots in three straight games before the injury, and while he only took 15 shots in 26 minutes in his first game back, he got back over the 30-shot mark in this game. Ball is the focal point of the offense regardless, but with Brandon Miller sidelined, LaMelo's responsibility will only be larger. Efficiency has never been a strong point for him, which will hold true if he continues to take 30 shots every game. However, he only turned it over once in this one, which was impressive to see.
Curry will replace the injured Brandon Miller on Thursday. The three-point sniper has played sparingly as of late but is averaging 9.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting at least 50% from the field and deep as a starter this season.
