Clowney fell hard on his back after attempting to reel in an offensive rebound during the second half of Wednesday's game. Jalen Wilson may pick up more minutes if Clowney cannot play in Thursday's game against the Bucks. Clowney finished with five points (2-of-5 FGs), three rebounds, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.
With the Nets trading Dorian Finney-Smith to the Lakers (the deal became official during Sunday's game), Clowney was back in the starting lineup after coming off the bench on Friday. He got off to a slow start before offering fantasy managers some redemption with 13 points and a few 3-pointers. Those who added Clowney should not get discouraged; Rome wasn't built in a day. And with the Nets established as "sellers" ahead of the February trade deadline, Clowney won't lack opportunities to show what he's capable of.
Only Claxton and Keon Johnson are returning starters from the Nets' last game Friday against the Spurs. Brooklyn's lineup shakeup is thanks to the team trading Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton as well as the return of Ben Simmons. Cam Thomas is also back for the Nets, but he'll come off the bench and have his minutes limited in his first game back.
Sunday's game will be the sixth missed by Watford, who last played on December 16. His absence has freed up minutes for Noah Clowney, whose production has been inconsistent. The fantasy ceilings of Clowney and Watford (when healthy) will be limited as long as Dorian Finney-Smith is starting.
Finney-Smith was back in the lineup after missing Thursday's win over the Bucks with a left calf contusion. He didn't shoot the ball well, but the veteran forward did grab nine rebounds. Noah Clowney, who started for Finney-Smith on Thursday, played 24 minutes against the Spurs before his ejection during the fourth quarter. Finney-Smith's name has come up in trade rumors, as he has the skill set many playoff-bound teams can use.
