Robinson also caught one pass for 11 yards. The Commanders' RB1 didn't get much going against the Bears' run defense, with his biggest run coming on a 19-yard gain in the first quarter. Robinson continues to run well ahead of Austin Ekeler, who saw just seven carries and just three targets. Robinson will be a high-end RB2 in Week 9 against the Giants.
Ekeler's impressive rushing total is backed by a 29-yard run that came in the closing seconds of the second quarter while the Bears were anticipating a deep pass to close out the half. Whatever fantasy upside Ekeler still possesses has gone largely unrealized through the first eight weeks of the season. He has just one top-24 PPR finish this season and is averaging just 2.6 targets/gm. He'll be a boom-or-bust RB3 in Week 9 against the Giants.
Ekeler played well behind Brian Robinson in Sunday's blowout win over the Panthers. The veteran running back has served primarily as a third-down/change of pace back this season, and the Commanders didn't find much use for his services in a game where the offense averaged 6.7 yards per play. Ekeler has only one top-24 fantasy finish on the season and shouldn't be viewed as anything more than an RB3 in next week's game against the Bears.
Commanders RB Brian Robinson (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday s game against the Panthers after a limited week of practice. HC Dan Quinn suggested Friday that Robinson could be a game-time decision. He had a good week, so everything s trending up, Quinn said. We ll take him through tomorrow and into the game and see what it looks like. We ll look for more info on Robinson but won t get Washington s inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET on Sunday. Robinson s absence would turn RB Austin Ekeler into a strong fantasy play in this plus matchup.
Robinson was limited in all three practices this week after missing Washington's Week 6 loss to Baltimore. Failing to get in a full practice this week suggests Robinson is a true game-time call heading into the weekend. If active, he will return for a phenomenal matchup versus a Carolina defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this year. If he's ruled out, Austin Ekeler will surge to the top of the RB2 ranks.
