One of the more oft-rumored trades of the past few weeks, as the Steelers seemed interested in moving on Williams the second the Jets acquired Davante Adams, finally gets done. Williams hasn't done well enough as a Jet to walk into fantasy value in Pittsburgh, but he might be worth a stash in deeper fantasy leagues. Xavier Gipson and Malachi Corley will step into slightly bigger roles in the Jets offense with Williams gone and Allen Lazard on IR, but neither of them are worth counting on in fantasy football. The Jets recoup a fifth-round pick for a player who they had clearly lost confidence in, which is a slight win.

Former Jets WR Mike Williams has been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 Fifth Round pick. Williams was signed to the Jets as a free agent, but lost playing time to Allen Lazard. He was then buried after miscommunications with QB Aaron Rodgers and the Jets trading for WR Davante Adams. He should slot in as the WR2 for the Steelers.

Placed on IR on Wednesday, Lazard is already set to miss four games no matter what. This makes it sound like the rest of his season is genuinely in doubt. Mike Williams will step in as the Jets third receiver going forward unless Williams is traded. Malachi Corley may get a shot too as long as he stops self-fumbling balls on his own before getting in the end zone.
