Both Zane Gonzalez and Greg Joseph missed practice this week to be with their wives, who are both in labor.
Zane Gonzalez and Greg Joseph expected the delivery of their children on the same day. It continues an unusual run at the placekicker position for Washington.
Gonzalez is dealing with a left foot injury and was listed as questionable entering the weekend despite being a full participant in Thursday and Friday's practices. Apparently unwilling to risk it, the Commanders have opted to sit Gonzalez for Week 15, thus forcing newly-signed vet Greg Joseph into the role. Joseph has converted on 13-of-16 field goal attempts this season while playing with the Giants while making all six of his extra point attempts. In addition to Gonzalez, the Commanders also declared WR K.J. J Osborn, QB Jeff Driskel, CB Michael Davis, LB Dominique Hampton C Tyler Biadasz, and DT Phidarian Mathis inactive. Biadasz was reportedly dealing with an illness that struck over the weekend, which led to the team holding him out after pre-game warmups.
Commanders K Zane Gonzalez (foot) is inactive for today's game vs. the Saints. He'll be replaced by K Greg Joseph, who was just called up from the practice squad. Joseph made 13 of 16 FG tries for the Giants earlier this season and owns a career 82.5% FG conversion rate. In a plus matchup in New Orleans, Joseph is a fine fantasy play if you were hoping to use Gonzalez.
Jamison Crowder returned to practice this week, signaling that he could be an option for the Commanders in Week 15. The veteran receiver/returner has indeed been activated from injured reserve, per a team announcement.
