McLaurin hauled in a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch for 35 yards on Washington's first drive and seemed in for a huge game, but he and Bucs' cornerback Jamel Dean were locked in a pretty good battle for much of the day. When Dean hurt his knee in the third quarter, McLaurin capitalized and burned Dean's backup for a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown. The Commanders will need plenty of big plays from McLaurin next week if they hope to go into Detroit and upset the Lions.
Dean was dealing with a knee injury coming into this game after missing Week 18. He seemed to aggravate the injury late in the third quarter while in coverage. It would be a major blow for the Bucs' defense if he were to miss the remainder of the game. Dean has been in primary coverage on Terry McLaurin during this game and broke up a touchdown earlier in the third quarter.
The Buccaneers are getting reinforcements for Sunday Night Football.
Tampa listed five players questionable and all of them will play -- Jamel Dean (knee), Mike Edwards (quad), Logan Hall (groin), and Antoine Winfield Jr. (knee) will join Otton in trying to hold it down for the NFC South champions Sunday night. Inactive for the Buccaneers are: DL C.J. Brewer, TE Devin Culp, WR Kam Johnson, WR Tanner Knue, S Ryan Neal, G Royce Newman, and OLB Jose Ramirez.
