Jones had 39 total tackles and seven sacks, both of which were career-highs, last season with the Vikings.

The Vikings drafted Jones in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was deployed as a part-time defensive end and a special teamer throughout his rookie contract, being credited with just five starts over four years. Even in a limited role, Jones broke out last year with seven sacks and nine TFLs. His contract, worth "up to" $20 million, signals that the Panthers will utilize him in a larger role going forward.

The Panthers did not wind up landing Milton Williams, but they are nevertheless adding along the defensive front.
