Pierce contributed his weekly closing time big play, hauling in a 39-yard with 2:14 remaining on what would end up the game-winning drive. Pierce continues to not see volume, but he is turning in long receptions regardless of who is under center. It makes him a potential matchup-flipper as a WR4/5, but the Colts' ancillary pieces are probably best avoided for a brutal Week 12 date with the Lions.
With Michael Pittman (back) out for the game, Mitchell got extra playing time, and made the most of it, showing sure hands and solid route running in the intermediate areas of the field, mainly by the sidelines. He would continue to see more work in the passing game if Pittman were to miss any more time but remains behind both Josh Downs and Alec Pierce in the pecking order. He also fumbled on his first catch of the game but was lucky when the ball squirted out from the gut of a Bills defender and teammate Josh Downs landed on it.
The final line is obviously nice, but Pierce had 33 yards on the final drive of the game with the Colts down 30-13 and his touchdown was on the literal last play of the game where he came down with a jump ball over Buffalo's back-up defenders. Pierce can hit on big plays down the field which gives him deep-league value, but we wouldn't read too much into this game for fantasy purposes.
Pierce continued to play the majority of the offensive snaps on the perimeter for the Colts but went the way of the offense, never able to get anything going against the varied coverages of Brian Flores' Vikings defense. Pierce's three targets fell well short of the nine of slot receiver Josh Downs, with the latter the odds on favorite to lead the team in production through the air for the remainder of the season.
