It's the least surprising football news we'll hear all week. Just days after benching Jake Haener for an atrocious half of football, the Saints have decided it would be best to start Rattler in Monday night's game against the Packers. Rattler had an up-and-down outing in the two quarters he played against the Commanders but nearly mounted a comeback win in the fourth quarter when he threw a touchdown to Foster Moreau as time expired. A failed two-point conversion attempt ultimately sealed the Saints' fate in the 20-19 defeat, but Rattler was unquestionably the best available quarterback for the Saints last week. Fantasy managers in traditional 1QB leagues can ignore Rattler, but he may have some viability for those in 2QB/Superflex leagues.
Saints QB Derek Carr (hand) is "very likely" to miss the rest of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Carr underwent further examination recently and he s at least a few weeks away from being able to withstand contact," Rapoport adds. Carr can be dropped in all redraft leagues. We're projecting the Saints to go back to QB Spencer Rattler for Monday night's game against the Packers. But, whether it's Rattler or Jake Haener, you should stay away from Saints QBs in fantasy lineups.
Saints WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught just two passes in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. But he did so on a team-high 7 targets. MVS hit halftime with 0 catches on 3 targets but then logged 2 receptions among 4 targets for 64 yards in the second half, after New Orleans switched from QB Jake Haener to Spencer Rattler.
The Saints yanked QB Jake Haener at halftime for Spencer Rattler and nearly came back to beat the Commanders. Rattler went just 10-of-21 passing for 135 yards and a TD but didn't turn the ball over and took no sacks. Haener threw for just 49 yards on 4-of-10 passing with an INT and 3 sacks taken before he left.
The Saints lost to the Commanders on a failed two-point conversion after benching Jake Haener in favor of Spencer Rattler in the second half Sunday.
