Missed practice on Friday Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. was ruled out for Week 10 vs. the Steelers. (Adam Schefter on X) FF Today's Take: Robinson was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday then sat on Friday before being ruled Out for Week 10. With Robinson out last week, the Commanders used three running backs including Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. Ekeler will work as the lead back but all three should get touches capping their upside.
Robinson was limited in all three practices last week before being listed as questionable. He was initially expected to play but didn't get the go-ahead during pre-game warmups. He appeared to be on track for a similar runout this week until the Commanders held him out of Friday's practice and ruled him out. It's possible he suffered a setback and almost certain that the Commanders didn't see his injury playing out this week. Austin Ekeler and Chris Rodriguez each saw 11 carries last week. Ekeler will jump into the RB2 ranks for Week 10 while Rodriguez is a flyer RB4.
Robinson practiced in a limited capacity through all three practices last week before ultimately being ruled out. He's remained limited in both Week 10 practices, giving us little to go on at this time. Austin Ekeler (3.1 YPC) and Chris Rodriguez Jr. (4.7 YPC) each totaled 11 carries last week, with Jeremy McNichols (2.1 YPC) handling eight more. Ekeler (five targets) was the only player to receive passing game touches. If Robinson is sidelined, McNichols' recent inefficiency could shrink the backfield to a two-player show.
Robinson was limited in all three sessions last week. He was expected to suit up as of Sunday morning, but it was clear after pre-game warmups that his hamstring injury didn't respond as planned. He was ruled out 90 minutes before kickoff. Today's limited session suggests he didn't suffer any setbacks, though his status for Week 10 remains ambiguous. Should he miss another week, Austin Ekeler would lead the backfield in touches with Chris Rodriguez taking on some of Robinson's grinder duties. Both backs saw 11 carries last week.
Commanders RB Austin Ekeler did garner a season-high 11 carries with Brian Robinson Jr. inactive for Sunday's win over the Giants. But that merely tied Chris Rodriguez for the team lead, as the team split 30 RB carries among three players. Jeremy McNichols took the other 8 carries and ran 11 pass routes to Ekeler's 13, according to Pro Football Focus.
