Ladd McConkey became the first Chargers rookie since Keenan Allen to have 100 yards receiving in a game and that helped lift L.A. to a win over the Saints.
Williams was uneasy and erratic in the pocket for the first three quarters in this one. The No. 1 overall pick had just 36 passing yards before the fourth quarter but was at his best on his last two offensive drives. Unfortunately, a poor play call by Shane Waldron had Williams handing the ball off to backup lineman Doug Kramer Jr. at the Commanders' two-yard line, which resulted in a fumble and a recovery by the Commanders to squash the drive. On the following drive, Williams aired the ball out for gains of 16 and 22 yards and saw a downfield pass to Keenan Allen end with an 11-yard pass interference call on fourth down. Roschon Johnson would score two plays later, and a two-point conversion by Cole Kmet put the Bears up 15-12 with 25 seconds to go. Unfortunately, a Hail Mary touchdown pass by Jayden Daniels handed the Bears their third loss of the season in what was a highly-anticipated game between this year's No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks. Williams and the Bears get the Cardinals in Week 9. He'll look to rebound from a largely disappointing outing, and will be a mid-QB2 next week in fantasy.
The Bears had just 36 passing yards as a team through the first three quarters, so Odunze leading the team in yards shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The rookie receiver hauled in a key pass on the Bears' final drive to help set up a Roschon Smith touchdown run and has now gone for 40 or more yards in three straight games. Odunze faces stiff target competition from Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore and has been largely unproductive for fantasy purposes. He'll be a boom-or-bust WR4 in Week 9 against the Cardinals.
Allen's biggest play came late in the fourth quarter when he drew a defensive pass interference on cornerback Benjamin St. Juste to give the Bears the ball on Washington's one-yard line with less than a minute to go in the game. That DPI set the Bears up for a Roschon Johnson touchdown run two plays later, but the Commanders countered with a 52-yard Hail Mary pass to put the game on ice. Allen's seven targets led the Bears, but he continues to struggle with his new team. He hasn't gone for more than 41 yards in a game this season, and shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a WR3 in Week 9 against the Cardinals.
Bears WR Keenan Allen scored a pair of TDs in Sunday s win over Jacksonville. The scores marked his first as a Bear.
