Most notably, he failed to catch a sideline ball from Jordan Love on a fourth-down pass where one of Heath's feet clearly came down on the out-of-bounds line. Heath started against the Rams in Week 5, playing 76 percent of the snaps and drawing just three targets. Otherwise he was just a depth outside option for the Packers, only seeing extended playing time in Week 18. Heath will compete for a depth role with the Packers in August.
Love wasn't helped by the fact that a) the Packers offensive line couldn't go more than eight plays between holding penalties and b) Green Bay's receivers getting injured at a prodigious enough rate to leave Malik Heath on the field in key downs. But it was not good enough for the Packers, who needed a transformative performance against a dominant Eagles defense and could not find it in Love. He finishes the year with a seasonal line of 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 picks. It's not that the Packers are necessarily "bad," but Love doesn't have transformative weapons and the shape of the offense bent towards the run. It will be hard for him to be more than a bottom-tier QB1 with spike weeks without better receiving talent or a shift in offensive design in 2025.
Reed appeared to suffer the injury while being tackled in the third quarter, he walked off to the locker room with trainers under his own power. Bo Melton, Malik Heath, Dontayvion Wicks, and Randall Cobb (okay, we made that last one up) will try to help the Packers complete a comeback against the Eagles if Reed can't return. Reed led the team with four catches for 46 yards on his only four targets before leaving.
