Perine played just 13 offensive snaps total while Carson Steele led the way with 23. Perine's playoff role following the Chiefs' first-round bye is tough to fully identify. Isiah Pacheco is dealing with a rib injury and the team has seemingly elevated Kareem Hunt to the No. 2 role. Perine's pass-catching talents should keep him somewhat involved in a rotational capacity though, even if both Pacheco and Hunt are active.
Steele was unable to make magic happen in this one despite leading the Chiefs in touches. Steele has proven himself as a capable ball carrier with Patrick Mahomes under center but playing well in an offense led by Carson Wentz is a far different ask. Steele will not be fantasy-relevant following the Chiefs' first-round bye.
Head coach Andy Reid said Pacheco will be available for the playoffs. With nothing left to play for in the regular season, Pacheco will get Week 18 and the bye to recover from his rib injury. Kareem Hunt is listed as doubtful and will also get the day off on Sunday, leaving the backfield to Samaje Perine and Carson Steele.
Steele will receive "extra work" Sunday against Denver, though the specifics of his role aren't yet clear, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
