Pittsburgh's defense issued a clinic on how to contain Baltimore's MVP candidates
The Steelers' defense held the Ravens' Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in check, setting the tone early in an 18-16 victory to take a 1.5 game lead in the AFC North.
It was a bad offensive day for the Ravens as a whole, and Bateman was no exception to this. The fourth-year receiver caught a 19-yard pass in the second quarter that helped set up a Derrick Henry touchdown run but didn't offer much contribution outside of that. Fortunately, the five targets were a good sign that his usage hasn't taken a dip despite Diontae Johnson now three games into his tenure as a Ravens. Bateman should continue to run as Baltimore's WR2 in Week 12 against the Chargers, but won't have much more than WR4 value.
Henry was largely bottled up in this one. Had it not been for a 31-yard run in the second quarter, his rushing total would have looked much different in the 18-16 defeat. The league's leading rusher lost a fumble on the second play of the game, but he did find the end zone on a one-yard run in the second quarter. Henry and the Ravens struggled against a physical Steelers defense for most of the afternoon and get another tough matchup against the Chargers in next week's Monday night showdown. He'll profile as an RB1, but may need a touchdown to fully deliver on those expectations.
