With Keon Coleman (wrist) out, Samuel has seen increased usage in back-to-back weeks and made the most of his opportunities on Sunday against the Chiefs. Samuel's longest play was a 21-yard reception in the second quarter, but his biggest play came early in the fourth quarter when he found the end zone on a 12-yard touchdown to put the Bills up 23-14. Samuel's usage largely hinges on the return of Coleman, who could be back after the team's Week 12 bye to face the 49ers in Week 13. If Coleman is active, Samuel won't have any fantasy upside in that game.
Allen and the Chiefs went back and forth all night, but late in the fourth quarter, with the Bills needing to convert a fourth-and-two, Allen put the team on his back to secure the win. After buying some time in the pocket, Allen took off past the line of scrimmage and immediately picked up the yards need for the first down, but he wasn't done. The Bills' QB1 continued downfield and evaded two defenders before laying his shoulder into safety Bryan Cook to punch in the 26-yard score. Allen was on top of his passing game as well, connecting with seven different pass-catchers on the night, with his lone touchdown pass coming on a 19-yard throw to Curtis Samuel. Allen and the are riding high heading into their bye week, and will return in Week 13 to face the 49ers.
The Bills were clearly trying to get Samuel going in Week 10 with both Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper sidelined but it never quite happened. Samuel made a few catches early on but he also dropped a potential third-down conversion and was targeted on one of Josh Allen's two interceptions. The two have struggled to get any sort of rhythm going this season, and the 28-year-old Samuel is shaping up to be a bit of a free-agent bust for the Bills this year.
Cooper got in three limited practices this week, but he also has a hard cast on his wrist and wasn't able to catch any passes, so it always seemed like a longshot for him to play. With Keon Coleman also inactive, the Bills will have just Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Jalen Virgil, and Tyrell Shavers at wide receiver. With only Kansas City next week before the Bills have their bye, it's possible we won't see Cooper next week either. The other Bills inactive are FB Reggie Gilliam, WR Keon Coleman, WR KJ Hamler, OL Will Clapp, and LB Edefuan Ulofoshio.
Bills WR Amari Cooper (wrist) is inactive for today s game vs. the Colts. With WR Keon Coleman out with his own wrist injury, Buffalo is down to WRs Khalil Shakir, Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, Jalen Virgil, and Tyrell Shavers. Shakir and TE Dalton Kincaid are the team s best target bets today.
