Eli White

Fairchild is out of options, so he'll join the major league club. That seems like bad news for Bryan De La Cruz, who does have options and who fills a similar role as a platoon outfielder against left-handers. It's possible the Braves could demote Eli White instead, but that seems unlikely. Fairchild, 29, hit just .215/.286/.368 for the Reds last season, but he was still a surprise exclusion from this year's roster. He's a lifetime .248/.346/.409 hitter against lefties, and he's a big defensive upgrade from De La Cruz.

Capel has had a really difficult time finding a permanent roster spot, but he's hit .278/.359/.398 in 153 plate appearances as a major leaguer since debuting in 2022. It sounds like the Braves are leaning towards Eli White as their 26th man, though that would give them a bench comprised strictly of righties (at least until Ronald Acuna Jr. returns and Jarred Kelenic finds his role reduced). Capel's lefty bat would be nice to have around if the Braves ever wanted to hit for Orlando Arcia (though they probably don't).
