The Twins have informed outfielder Manuel Margot that they will decline their end of his contract’s $12MM mutual option, reports Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News and SKOR North Radio. He’ll receive a $2MM buyout — paid by the Rays, not the Twins — and become a free agent. More to come.
It's a $2 million buyout on the option and Margot will become a free agent. The 30-year-old hit just .238/.289/.337 in 129 games in 2024 with four home runs and five steals. He still plays above-average outfield defense, so Margot will try to latch on as a fourth outfielder somewhere.
