It has been a horrible week for fantasy quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out for tonight's match up against the Patriots. If Rodgers was headlining your team, the timing of his concussion couldn't have been worse. The medical and coaching staffs couldn't clear Aaron to play so Matt Flynn will get his first NFL start. Flynn will be the first backup QB to start an NFL game for the Packers in the past 18 years.
Another guy with a concussion is Mike Shanahan. I'm still trying to figure out the logic behind throwing your starting QB under the bus and relegating him to being the backup to the backup. "There's a lot of mistakes that you make, you really don't know if you made a mistake" Shanahan said. "But if you do make one, you make it and you go on. What I want to do is evaluate where we're at at the end of the season, and then I will tell you if we erred or not." Sorry Redskins fans, but I gotta ask, "What's going on in Washington?". Is this another McNabb intervention? Are Rex Grossman and John Beck really better situated to lead the Redskins to victory? Somebody take the keys away from Shanahan. I think he's had too much to drink.
Kyle Orton may be one of the QB's that got you into the playoffs, but he's not going to be one who can deliver a championship. In fact, he's lost his starting job this week to Tim Tebow. Yes folks, it appears that a new era is going to begin again in Denver - it's Tebow Time.
Brett Favre is extending his new streak. It's the 2nd game in a row that he'll be watching from the sidelines. The Vikings will start rookie Joe Webb in his place on Monday night against the Bears. Patrick Ramsey will back him up. Obviously, none of these names warrant a spot on your fantasy playoff team.
I'm waiting to hear more about Matt Cassel and his chances for playing today. He practiced well on Friday and there's a chance he suits up against the Chiefs. If he plays, Dwayne Bowe's value goes back up. If he sits, Bowe's value goes back down.
Taking a break from quarterbacks, here's an interesting video. Danny Woodhead takes time out to try and sell some Woodhead jerseys at a local Modell's. One guy passes on buying the jersey by saying "He's too small". Another woman would rather opt for a Welker jersey. It's pretty entertaining. See for yourself.
Priceless.
