New Feature: Fantasy Football Draft Date Picker

Tuesday, Aug 13, 2013 at 12:00 pm ET

Every commissioner runs into this issue eventually. When should we hold our fantasy football draft? Instead of trying to juggle everyone's schedule and emails bouncing back and forth, use the FREE Draft Date Picker from FantasyFootballNerd.com.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention and they couldn't be more right. Each year I have to juggle the schedules of 11 other people for each league trying to determine which dates work best for each person. I had to do this recently with the 2013 FFN Experts League in which the other 11 folks represent such top-tier organizations as The Washington Post, the New York Times, FOX Sports, the Sports Network, CBS, and more. After finally selecting a date, it turned out that this particular date did NOT work for everyone. I said to myself, "there's got to be a better way of doing this."

I sat down and starting building the FFN Fantasy Football Draft Date Picker. I sent it out to the folks mentioned above and by the end of the day, we had our draft date picked! I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. It saved me a ton of time and made it easy for everyone.

You'll find the new feature available starting today and it's available to every member of FFN - not just the premium members. You simply need to have a free account to create a Draft Date Picker for your league.

It should be pretty simple to use. Simply enter in your draft details, select potential draft date, add the names of the people in your league and that's it. While it's free for everyone to use this tool, FFN premium members can choose a vanity URL (ie, myleaguename instead of something like yt87cdr9), and if the commish enters the email addresses of any league member, FFN will automatically email that person an invite to come into the site and vote on a date.

Each member of your league has a unique URL that they can use to select which dates work for him/her. They simply select "Yes" or "No" next to each of the proposed dates. When everyone has responded, the commish should have a very good idea about what dates will and will not work.

Feel free to use it. If you have any comments or suggestions on ways to improve it, please send them [email protected]. Enjoy!
