Week 7 Start'em - Sit'em
This is the Fantasy Football Nerd's look at the best and worst matchups for Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season. Analysis is aggregated from multiple sources including FFN. FFN rankings are based upon PPR (point per reception) scoring. Given the known conditions, these matchups are the ones to watch and/or avoid.
Please Note: This list does not generally include the elite players that you are going to start regardless of matchup. You don't need us to tell you to start Aaron Rodgers, Travis Kelce, or DeAndre Hopkins. Instead, we take a look at other players on your team that we believe either have great matchups or should be avoided for multiple reasons. Factors like opposing defense, performance trending, and peer comparisons may influence our decisions.
Start 'em Josh Allen (BUF, QB)Fresh off a bye, Josh Allen comes into the Week 7 rankings at #7 facing a Miami defense that has given up the most passing touchdowns and the third-most fantasy points to the position. To get 20 points out of Allen this week is not unrealistic. Rivers, Brady, Prescott, and Jackson have all done it.
Start 'em Kyler Murray (ARI, QB)In the past we've referred to Kyler Murray as a diesel engine - it takes him a bit to get warmed up, but once he's warm, he can run forever. This week he's facing a Giants secondary that has surrendered almost 25 fantasy points each week. Winston, Cousins, Allen, Brady, and Prescott have all delivered fantastic fantasy days against them. It's Murray's turn.
Start 'em Daniel Jones (NYG, QB)With several teams on bye this week, Daniel Jones just may be the guy to target. Arizona has given up more fantasy points to QBs this year than any other team. With the resurgence of Golden Tate, Jones has a viable receiver that he can target. Hopefully Danny Dimes can have Barkley, Shepard, and Engram back.
Start 'em Phillip Lindsay (DEN, RB)Matchups with the Kansas City Chiefs tend to be high-scoring affairs. Let's hope so because the Chiefs can be run on, allowing a combined 477 yards on 102 carries (4.7 YPC) to RBs over the past 3 weeks. Look for a run-heavy attack from Denver on Thursday night, with Lindsay leading the way. He's averaging 14 carries and 4.3 targets per game. Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson averaged 15.7 fantasy points against them last week. If you don't have Lindsay, you can feel confident firing up Royce Freeman. One (or both) of them should find the endzone.
Start 'em Derrick Henry (TEN, RB)Derrick Henry disappointed fantasy owners last week, so consider this a get-right game for him. With a new QB under center, he'll look to bust through the Chargers front line similar to the way James Conner did it last week (30.9 fantasy points - PPR). The Chargers are giving up the third-most fantasy points to running backs this season.
Start 'em Josh Jacobs (OAK, RB)Ranked 15th this week on FFN is Josh Jacobs. When the Raiders make their way to Lambeau Field on Sunday, they'll face a Packers defense that is giving up 124.5 yards on the ground each week (tenth-most) and the fifth-most rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. Green Bay has been one of the most generous defenses to the position this year.
Start 'em Cooper Kupp (LAR, WR)Normally the top WR option belongs to Jones, Hopkins, or Thomas, but not this week. Cooper Kupp hits our rankings for the first time at #1 facing an Atlanta secondary that was completely torched by Will Fuller in Week 5 to the tune of 53.7 points. The Falcons have surrendered the 3rd-most fantasy points to wide receivers this year and Kupp is the 3rd-highest scoring WR on the year. Coincidence? I think not. It's destined to be.
Start 'em Michael Gallup (DAL, WR)It's not often that the Top 12 gets to see a new face, but Gallup climbs into the rankings this week in a plus matchup with the Eagles. A Dallas/Philly game has historically been a shootout, and if Amari Cooper misses any time, Gallup is in for some of those downfield shots. Just ask Stefon Diggs who hauled in 43.5 points for fantasy owners last week against the Eagles.
Start 'em Kenny Golladay (DET, WR)Yes, it's a tough matchup for Kenny Golladay this week, but the Vikings have given up points to the opposing team's WR1 including 23.6 points to Alshon Jeffery last week and 17.6 points to Davante Adams in Week 2. They're also tied for 10th-most receiving touchdowns given up to opposing WRs. Golladay remains a high-end WR2 for fantasy this week.
Start 'em Hunter Henry (LAC, TE)If Hunter Henry was supposed to be on a snap count last week, he was hyper-efficient turning those opportunities into 30 fantasy points. He's definitely an endzone target when he's on the field, and given that the Titans are currently giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to a depleted fantasy position, Henry should be in line for a nice fantasy day.
Start 'em Gerald Everett (LAR, TE)Ranked 10th this week on FFN is Gerald Everett who let fantasy owners down last week producing a disappointing 2.9 points. He should bounce back on the road against the Falcons this week who just gave up 12.4 fantasy points to Maxx Williams last week.
Start 'em Buffalo Bills (BUF, DEF)It's the Bills turn to beat up on the Miami Dolphins. They are our top projected defense this week - one spot higher than even the Patriots and their incredibly-reliable fantasy defense.
Start 'em Zane Gonzalez (ARI, K)Zane Gonzalez has been a nice surprise this year. He made both field goal attempts last week and tacked on all four extra points putting him into double-digit territory. That could continue this week against the Giants who just gave up 15 fantasy points to Dan Bailey in Week 5.
Sit 'em Matthew Stafford (DET, QB)Stafford has largely been a matchup-type QB this season, and this isn't a particularly good matchup. The Vikings have kept every QB they've faced under 20 points except for Carson Wentz who managed 20.54 last week. Stafford is ranked 18th this week putting him outside starting territory.
Sit 'em Philip Rivers (LAC, QB)Philip Rivers comes into Week 7 ranked 19th and facing a Titans defense that has given up the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game. Flacco and Mayfield were held to single digits and Josh Allen, Matt Ryan, and Jacoby Brissett averaged just 16 fantasy points. There may not be a lot of points on the board in this game.
Sit 'em Sam Darnold (NYJ, QB)Sam Darnold looked really solid in his first game back from mono last week. His connection with Robby Anderson was apparent and Jets fans had something to cheer about. Unfortunately for those same fans, he'll face a Patriots defense that has given up the fewest fantasy points to QBs this season. Darnold is ranked 25th on FFN this week. He's not even startable in 2-QB leagues. Keep him on the bench.
Sit 'em Tarik Cohen (CHI, RB)While Cohen ranks second on the team in targets, he remains the secondary RB in that backfield, and secondary RBs have have all stayed in the single digits this year against the Saints. New Orleans is giving up the 8th-fewest fantasy points to backs this season. Cohen may struggle a bit on Sunday afternoon.
Sit 'em Adrian Peterson (WAS, RB)Whether it's Chris Thompson or Adrian Peterson, both guys are likely to struggle against the Niners front this week. San Francisco has given up the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs and hasn't allowed a single one to reach the endzone this season. The best fantasy day against them was had by Nick Chubb in Week 5 where he tallied just 10.9 PPR points.
Sit 'em A.J. Green (CIN, WR)Will he or won't he suit up and make his season debut this week? After getting in limited practices last week, Green is ranked 36th given that there was some speculation that he might take the field in Week 7. The fact that he was sidelined for practice on Wednesday, his return remains questionable. Even if he does play, he'd be a risky play. Continue to keep him stashed for now.
Sit 'em Robby Anderson (NYJ, WR)Welcome back Robby Anderson! His 92-yard touchdown last week and 125 total yards made many fantasy owners rush to the waiver wire this week to put in their claims. Easy there fellas. A matchup with the Patriots is legit. They're giving up the 2nd-fewest yards, 2nd-fewest touchdowns, and 3rd-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers.
Sit 'em Josh Gordon (NE, WR)Josh Gordon is ranked 44th this week on FFN facing the same Jets defense that he saw back in Week 3. This time though he's dealing with a knee injury suffered in last week's game against the Giants. He was sidelined in practice on Tuesday and the Pats get N'Keal Harry and Phillip Dorsett back this week. All of those factors combined makes it difficult to think that Gordon will outperform his 8.4 standard points and 14.4 PPR points from their last meeting.
Sit 'em Trey Burton (CHI, TE)Trey Burton heads into Week 7 with a disappointing 11 catches for 57 yards...on the season. That's a touch pill to swallow. With the exception of Will Dissly in Week 3, the Saints have held all tight ends to single digits including just one catch per tight end the last two weeks.
Sit 'em Jack Doyle (IND, TE)Jacoby Brissett has been a better fantasy QB than many anticipated, but that hasn't translated down to his tight ends including Jack Doyle. The matchup is brutal as the Texans have given up the 5th-fewest points points and the 4th-fewest yards per game. They also haven't let a tight end into the endzone yet.
Sit 'em Seattle Seahawks (SEA, DEF)The Seattle D has been pretty solid this year, but a visit from the Lamar Jackson and the Ravens is likely to leave them grasping for points. They're ranked 15th this week, so if you're streaming, you can still use them, but look for better options.
Sit 'em Wil Lutz (NO, K)Normally a reliable fantasy kicker, Wil Lutz comes into this week's rankings at #20 facing a Chicago defense that is difficult for opposing offenses to move the ball on.

I like Danny Dimes over Rivers and Cousins this week.
Not sure what you'll get from Diggs this week, but I'd still start him with Fuller and Tate (flex).
I like both Chargers backs. Singletary has a great matchup but snap count is a question and Gore should get the workload. It's Murray's show with Kamara out but that Bears front is legit.

@xtreme1 - Flip a coin. Might go with Brissett.
@Matthias - which Gordon? Melvin? Josh?
@ Chico66 - In standard probably Gore. In PPR probably Montgomery.

Depends upon your scoring. In PPR, I think I'd rather have White, but in standard scoring, Breida.
I'd start Kerryon and Melvin Gordon out of that mix (of course, having said that, any other player will go off for a big day because that's how the fantasy gods work...)
I'd start Tucker and I'm hoping that you don't have two kickers rostered. :-)

I'm starting Robinson. Fingers crossed that Cooper can last the whole game, but assuming he plays (all reports seem to indicate so) he belongs in your lineup. I know the Bills will run all over Miami but I'm hesitant on Singletary's workload behind Gore. Just my opinion.
