When I created FFN, it was my intention to share as much of the data as I could. That's why I also created a free fantasy football API so that other developers could take that data and mash it up into something interesting and useful. I know that there are smarter people out there than me and I'd like to introduce you to 3 great examples of what creativity and open data can produce.
1. 12StepDrop.com
This site uses the FFN API for their player data. The site is based on an incredible idea and it is also put together extremely well. It monitors the Twittering of NFL players in one place. Want to know what Larry Fitzgerald is thinking? How about Pierre Thomas's opinion on starting on Sunday? Yep - all there. Very cool.
2. StartThisGuy.com
Obviously I'm a big fan of the wisdom of the crowd theory. StartThisGuy.com uses the FFN API for player data and schedule info. Need some help making a tough sit/start decision. Put it up to the crowd and see what everyone else thinks. The site is put together very well and the interface is very slick and intuitive. Creating an account is free and easy so check it out.
3. eCouchCoach.com
eCouchCoach.com is a complete fantasy football gaming platform. Run your league there or join an existing league. The site uses the FFN API for draft rankings. It's a really nice platform and definitely worth checking out.
I'm absolutely thrilled to see the FFN API in use by this very talented group. All three serve a unique segment of the fantasy football community and I wish them all the best of luck!
