Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy will miss the 2024 season after undergoing knee surgery
McCarthy joins the Vikings after being selected with the 10th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. McCarthy was 27-1 as a starter at Michigan and enters an incredible situation in Minnesota with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson leading the receiving corps. He won't be mistaken for a running QB, but McCarthy has the ability to scramble and use his legs effectively to extend plays and keep drives alive. Even if he starts out behind Sam Darnold, that shouldn't last very long, though McCarthy figures to require some development and won't be worth drafting in most formats in 2024.
